Yoga modifications

There are many poses I probably wouldn't have been able to do 30 years ago. The liberating thing about starting in my 50s is that I accept my body and its limitations. I accept that I may not see instant progress or that some days I seem to have LESS balance or flexibility than the day before.

These are some modifications I incorporate regularly:

  • Cobra pose instead of Upward Facing Dog

  • Knee down in side-plank

  • Use of a yoga block for Half-moon pose

  • Toe touch to the floor for balance poses such as Tree pose

  • Simply feeling good in my effort in twisting poses or stacking poses such as Crow pose
